What I have been reading – Q1 ’25 edition

Here’s a list with a very brief review

1. Dune series (fiction): I enjoyed reading Dune which is the first book in the 3-book series by Frank Herbert. The recent two Dune movies are adaptations of the first book. I found the second book, Dune Messiah, to be readable mainly because it is short. Halfway through Children of Dune, I abandoned the effort.

2. The Hound of the Baskervilles (fiction): As someone with much childhood nostalgia for the Sherlock Holmes series by Arthur Conan Doyle, reading the books is like time travel. This book is the scariest of the lot.

3. Becoming a Venture Capitalist (non-fiction): Gary Rivlin interviews a handful of VCs in the valley and shares an insight into a history of venture capital and what it is like to be a VC. It is informative without being overbearing.

4. There is Never Anything but the Present (non-fiction): The book is a collection of quotes by Alan Watts, one per page, 120 pages in all. A reminder one needs from time to time
